New Orleans–style crispy fried shrimp on a hoagie roll with remoulade and coleslaw

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • for remoulade mayonnaise, hot sauce, pickles
  • to fill shredded cabbage and tomato

Instructions

  1. 1.Mix mayo, hot sauce, pickles, and Cajun seasoning for remoulade.
  2. 2.Coat shrimp in seasoned cornmeal-flour mixture; fry in 350°F oil 2-3 minutes until golden.
  3. 3.Split and toast hoagie rolls; spread remoulade on both sides.
  4. 4.Fill with fried shrimp, shredded cabbage, and tomato.
