Crispy layers of phyllo pastry with spiced walnuts and honey syrup

Ingredients

  • 16 sheets phyllo dough sheets
  • 3 cups walnuts, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup each water and sugar
  • 1 tablespoon orange blossom water

Instructions

  1. 1.Mix walnuts with cinnamon and sugar.
  2. 2.Layer 8 buttered phyllo sheets; spread nut mixture; repeat with remaining phyllo.
  3. 3.Cut into diamonds and bake at 350°F for 45-50 minutes until golden.
  4. 4.Simmer honey, water, sugar, and orange blossom water into syrup; pour over hot baklava.
