Pork Carnitas

Crispy slow-braised Mexican pork shoulder with orange and cumin for tacos

Ingredients

  • 4 lbs pork shoulder, cut into large chunks
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 3 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon each cumin, garlic powder, oregano
  • 1 large onion, halved
  • to serve corn tortillas, salsa, cilantro, lime

Instructions

  1. 1.Season pork with spices; place in Dutch oven with orange juice, lime, and onion.
  2. 2.Braise covered at 300°F for 3.5-4 hours until pull-apart tender.
  3. 3.Shred pork; spread on a sheet pan and broil 5-8 minutes for crispy edges.
  4. 4.Serve in corn tortillas with salsa, cilantro, and lime.
